Bruce Pearl has Kansas State written all over him.

Think they'll hold the job for him?

I think whoever gets the job will either be fired or ready to move on by the 2014-15 or more realistically, the 2015-16 season.

I'm guessing he'll go to some mid-major for a year or two and then assuming he does well there, some K-State type school will take a flyer on him. If you look at some of the coaches that have been there over the last decade plus it wouldn't seem to be that much of a reach.

You could make the argument that Chizik could well be the football equivalent of Weber. Succeeded big time with players from the previous regime, and then not so good when it all fell on their shoulders.

Does that make him the Tubby Smith of college football? :D

I could have won a National Title coaching that team with the squad that the big-money donors paid to get there.

Yeah, if you listed the coaches who have won football titles in the last 30+ years and ranked them, it's safe to say Chizik would be at the bottom.

But, he has the same number of titles as Steve Spurrier. :D So that's got to count for something.

I hate to say this, but give me Gene Cheezedick over Larry Coker.

That's close, and a good comparison.

I don't think you can. He brought in Cam Newton and Nick Fairley and Michael Dyer, the three most important players on that team.

And Bruce Weber sustained his success, albeit at a more moderate level, longer than Gene Cheezedick will.

Big difference is there's no way Coker gets the Miami job if he first goes 5-19 at Iowa State.
