I don't think anyone's anticipating long-term success with Weber. K-State fans were outraged when the news was revealed.

I don't really know the details of all that went wrong at Illinois, and I don't have any idea why it would be anything but more difficult in Manhattan. But, I guess we'll find out.

Looks like Clemson assistant Rick Ray to Mississippi State:

Also spent four years at Purdue.

Weber scuttled his own ship through his recruiting, though not in the way some might suspect.

He recruited too many players with big-time egos that overshadowed their talent and eventually poisoned the program. He finally acknowledged this late this season and took the blame.

They guy went against his gut once he became the head guy at Illinois and started recruiting too many players he doesn't coach well. If he learned his lesson and recruits mostly tough SOBs and sprinkles in a couple studs he will be OK at KState.

When I first heard this, I just pictured people at Rusty's in Aggieville hurling beer mugs all over the bar.

This hire makes exactly ZERO sense. Weber has to feel like he hit the lottery.

I don't get why they didn't pluck Marshall out of Wichita.

Could have been the same reason Lee Fowler wouldn't touch him when Herb Sendek left N.C. State for Arizona State, opting for Sidney Lowe instead.

CBS reporting that Jim Christian will leave TCU to go back to the Mid-American Conference to coach Ohio.

He must really want out of there. He's leaving a Big 12 job for a MAC job.

This one came out of nowhere. Most people thought Ohio State assistant and Ohio grad Jeff Boals or Ohio assistant Dustin Ford would be the guys considered.

It's a nice job, though. A Sweet 16 team with everyone back.

I would guess he knows TCU has no shot of competing, at least not right away, in the Big 12. Why fail and end up fired when you can leave now for a good job in a comfortable place?

From what I've heard, Marshall is not well respected. Basically, many feel he's a whiner and a phony. And trust me - it's not that he luuuuvs Wichita State. He wants to move up. But his act is tiresome to everyone outside Wichita State.

Canisius hires Jim Baron, late of URI.

I don't expect the Griffs to be Gonzaga or St. Mary's east, but there is no reason they shouldn't be a consistent MAAC contender instead of a perennial cellar dweller. He's a St. Bona grad, but that doesn't matter if he can turn this thing around.

Has Billy Baron indicated if he's going to transfer again? One big reason he gave for leaving UVa was wanting to play for his father.
