Well, there is Memphis, which is ranked No. 2 and -- like Kansas -- has already beaten USC, Arizona and Oklahoma, in addition to Georgetown and UConn. Regardless of whether KU wins tonight, I wouldn't argue with anyone who votes Memphis up to No. 1 should it beat Southern Miss tonight.

 

UNC = worst #1 since '02-'03 alabama.

OK, gotcha. That '02-'03 'Bama team wasn't that great, hence my confusion. Tech seems to always give UNC trouble in Atlanta. Same kind of deal with FSU always challenging Duke, I suppose.

 

UNC will be fine. in fact, this might do the psyche good a little, at least...no need to worry about the streak, or what have you.

A terrible No. 1 can still be a good team in my mind. Maybe he is saying they are more suited for a No. 8-12 ranking or a No. 3 or 4 seed.
