Um... Eric Gordon is pretty damn good. And I mean on both sides of the ball.

He completely took Chattanooga out of its offense in the second half after Chatt scored 50 in the first half and led in Assembly Hall. Then there's his NBA range. That's pretty dadgum good too.

I just hope Kelvin didn't sell his soul to get Gordon.

If he did, I'm sure Satan will give him the ultimate punishment and take away his phone in hell.

How about an all-freshman first team of:

    F -- Michael Beasley
    F -- Kevin Love
    G -- O.J. Mayo
    G -- Eric Gordon
    G -- Derrick Rose

Not too shabby. Could also be five of the first seven or so picks in next summer's NBA draft.

Enjoy them while they're in college, everyone! I know I will.

I believe I have seen the worst team in America.

Ladies and gents, I offer you The Citadel. Whose 13 freshmen (none redshirted, mind you), 1 redshirt freshman, one sophomore and one junior and one senior, managed to stay within 61 of a South Carolina team picked dead-ass last in the SEC.

Citadel points in the final 7:20: Zero.

Admittedly, South Carolina might be better than folks thought -- they've got a shitload of transfers, at least one of which appears to be pretty damn good.

I think there's a good chance Patterson would have gone to Kentucky even with Tubby there. PP's mom really liked Tubby, plus it was the closest power school to his home.
Jai Lucas had plenty of opportunity to pick UK in the fall. No reason to believe that would have been automatic in the spring.
Randolph Morris did not leave Kentucky because Tubby did. He left because it was time to go make money. I'm surprised anybody would believe he'd stick around. That's a fantasy.
Tubby Smith is a good coach who was bad at recruiting.
All you have to do is look at the roster to see that.

  6. What about D-III Daniel Webster College, the school The Citadel beat 131-79 the other night? I was following the USC game on GameChannel and was wondering why the Bulldogs' point total wasn't changing. I know it's D-III, but how do you go from scoring 131 one game to scoring 89 fewer points the next?

Can't argue with that team, but keep an eye on Austin Daye at Gonzaga. He's not going to put up 30 a game, but the kid's pretty impressive though I have a feeling he's going to shoot himself out of some playing time here in the near future.

That's probably the difference between playing a D-3 team and an SEC team. Just a guess though.

He did. Gordon had all along been committed to Illinois. Then all of a sudden he backed out and went to IU.

They must have rung his phone off the hook.

Now come on, tell the whole story.

I'm not taking a side either way, but Gordon is an Indiana kid who grew up wanting to play for IU. He wasn't going to play for a dysfunctional IU program led by Mike Davis, so he committed to Illinois. When Davis left, Gordon initiated contact with Kelvin Sampson and asked to be recruited.

I'm no Kelvin Sampson fan, but what is Sampson supposed to do in that situation? If you have one of the top five high school players in the nation in your own back yard who expresses an interest, you can't say, "No, you're alreayd committed to Illinois, sorry you can't come."

Like Navy, Air Force and Army, isn't The Citadel limited by height restrictions?
