Oh I've been there ... for football. They have a thoroughbred do a lap around the running track after every Murray score. Considering how utterly shitty the team I cover was, they had to euthanize the horse in the third quarter.

I have a strong feeling that WSU will lose its third consecutive game tonight. Nothing like trying to break a losing streak by hosting UCLA.

  3. I've seen Duke, UCLA and UNC in person this season. UCLA was clearly the best of the three. No doubt which team I am picking in my tournament bracket.

I once covered a really, really bad college football team. By the end of that season, I had an open $50 cash reward offered to any stadium official who would play the Benny Hill theme song when State U's offense took the field. The last couple of games of the season, I walked in the jumbotron booth before kickoff and waved the cash in the air. Lots of laughs, but no one ever played it. When I left the beat, I begged and pleaded for one of them to make me a season highlight DVD set to that music, but, again, no takers.

I still can't decide between UCLA and Kansas.

No doubts about that. UWM has lost its last 8 vs. the MVC.

Calkins brings it down hard today on UNLV ... err ... Memphis.

Maybe when Cal said he wanted Memphis to become "America's Team," maybe he literally wanted them to follow the good-clean-fun Cowboys.

The main reason I'm posting this, though, is simply because Calkins consistently makes me laugh.

  8. I weep for my nation when I hear stories like that.
You should have hired some hackers from MIT.
Also, three rules for living: Nothing good happens:

    1) after 3 am.
    2) at a place called The Plush Club.
    3) with a woman named LeParis.

    These things are true.
