Clemson basketball was watchable tonight. Of course, they were playing 5-on-0 ...

oh wait, you mean Virginia was actually on the court? I must have missed that.

Something must be terribly wrong with UVa basketball.
When you lose by that much on your home court, the wheels have come off.

  4. Of course you make that call in the Illinois game. A guy gets hit in the chops right in front of the ref in the open floor? Pruitt deserves to be taught something for that piece of arrant stupidity. College officiating gets worse by the hour.
I renounce Digger Phelps, and all his works, and all his allurements.
And WAYNE KREKLOW would kick his ass.

Shaun Pruitt learned a valuable lesson about a second before that no-call: Hit your (expletive deleted) free throws.

He'd have been better off if, before every shot, he spun around 10 times, stood with his back facing the basket, closed his eyes and tossed the ball over his shoulder.

That's been the discussion around the campus, bubbler. If the program continues to improve, Keno could be moving up in a few years. This is, after all, his first HC gig after spending years on the bench with his old man for the last few years, Gary Garner at SEMO and (Hello Illinois!) Bruce Pearl.

They have a president and AD who's going to find ways to keep him, even for a few more years, given Drake's situation as a small school that doesn't have much in the booster coffers to hand out. If there's anything about the coaches at Drake, they are very loyal to the school and they know Drake will have no ill feelings when a bigger opportunity presents itself. It took Rob Ash a chance to coach at a 1-AA program with schollies for him to finally leave Des Moines after 18 successful years at the FB HC for the Bulldogs. But the football program is under the non-scholly wing of 1-AA, so Ash was pretty much forced to do more with less talent.

  7. In an effort to avoid work, a friend and I went googling through the history of Drake hoops. He'd forgotten Lewis Lloyd, and I'd forgotten that Willie Mccarter and that bunch came within three points of upsetting the UCLA Alcindors at the 1969 Final Four.
I gotta get a tape of that game.

If you made that call, you wouldn't be deciding the game. Pruitt would have been with that ridiculous decision to attempt to block a 75-footer. What a mess that kid was at the end of the game, get him to the sports psychiatrist's office today. Hell, it would have been 3 free throws, even in that game I'd give White a chance to make one.

They're beaten up, and their best player ain't near right.

    Disaster time.

I met Rick Wanamaker a few years ago. His wife and him are top real estate agents in Des Moines. A wonderful guy. Wanamaker block one of Alcindor's shots.

Matter of fact, a few of them are being honored tomorrow night at halftime of the Evansville-Drake game. I'll find the link for it.

    So did the Cavaliers.

The way Pete Gillen was ridden and eventually run out of town, I can't imagine the natives of Charlottesville are going to leave Dave Leitao alone for much longer.
