Ask Arizona if Virginia is any good.

Clemson, Boston College and Miami might be decent to strong as well.

But you are right, Carolina is the class with possibly Duke leading the second tier outright.

The ACC will be lucky to get two teams in the Sweet 16, and it might only get one.

Wow, that's an awfully brash prediction this early in the season. That'd probably be true if the tournament were starting this Thursday. But there's a lot of months for a lot of teams to gel and get better.

You know, it might be FH, but look at the conference. NC is awsome. Duke is down a bit. Does anyone else give you the impression that they will be a four seed or higher going in?

Teams get hot. You never know.

I fully expect Maryland to play night and day better come February than they are right now. They're young and talented, but right now too disorganized. They're going to get blown out by UCLA tonight.

Any team with Sean Singletary has got to be feared. He could carry Virginia to the final 8 if he gets even a little bit of help. NC State is also young and supposed to be getting much better as the season goes on.

    True.

I am just using the for-every-team-that-gets-hot-one-will-crap-the-bed theory.

Virginia's victory is about the only impressive non-conference win for the ACC.

Maryland nearly loses at home to Hampton and needs OT to beat Northeastern at home; N.C. State falls at home to New Orleans; Florida State loses to Cleveland State; and Virginia Tech barely beats Elon at home.

I guess we'll know how big Virginia's win is when we see how good Arizona is.

Aside from Virginia at Arizona, Clemson at Mississippi State is the best victory any major conference team owns.
What do Clemson and Virginia have in common?

    Illegal overuse of orange?

In other news, what happened to all that "UCLA is gonna pick up the tempo" talk? 50-39 at the under-eight timeout vs. run-and-gun Maryland.

Belmont gets another big road win, this time by 2 at Alabama. Last week they won by 15 at Cincinatii.

It's not very much fun being an Alabama fan these days :'(

OK, I'm just going to write this and slowly back away.

Duke and Princeton are playing, and there are 10 white guys on the floor.
