Love looks like a solid, solid player. He also seems to have a great attitude to the team and coach.

Shit. Just as Lute seems to be going out, Howland builds this at UCLA. ASU better be happy looking up in the standings.

You think they will miss Drew?

Dumb piece of scheduling by Ernie Kent. What, in God's name, do you stand to gain by going to Moraga? The Gaels, on the other hand, are way legit. Going to be a battle in the WCC this year.

Am I wrong for not being impressed with Kevin Love?

He'll learn it with time, but he's a butcher when dribbling. I can see him as a good low post player, and I guess that's why he plays there, but I would like to see the guy develop a dribble. Create some space and shoot.

And they will look up at Wazzu*.

    * - Sorry, don't get to say that often.

  7. I'd like to say for the record that, if Marquette shoots 68 percent on its threes for the entire season, they're going to have a really good year.

Living in ACC country, people just do not realize how strong the Pac 10 is in hoops and football.

  9. Dude, he's not a shooting guard. He's a low-post player. Critiquing his dribble-drive prowess is being kinda nitpicky, right now, don't ya think? I think there's going to be plenty of opportunities to critique his game this season, because he's gonna hit some low points as a freshman. But today might not be one of those days considering the beating he took from the Michigan State post players, and how well he handled it all. A very impressive freshman, in my opinion.

I do agree with some others, though, I'm not sure how well he'll translate into the pros. But so far, he looks like a helluva college player, and that's all that matters right now.

Love is impressive, but not a Sportscenter dunk fest impressive.

He can clear the inside. He can get tough rebounds. He can move the ball and find the open man. He can set screens to free up shooters. He can kick an outlet pass out. He will come out of the game without griping. He can move a center outside with his shot.

I also think he is a good ball handler. Dribbling is what you do when you can't pass.

The biggest misconception is basketball is that dribbling is part of offense. Ball never hits the floor if an offense is run perfectly, or in a perfect fastbreak.

I just stumbled upon this looking for his stats.

12 assists, 11 TOs. Not too bad. Especially when you consider it's his first games in DI.

Jeebus, you say that like it's a bad thing.

Yes, because basketball really needs another gunner, satisfied simply with getting on TV instead of working hard to win a game for his team.

I think Love had 16 and 16 the other night. Between him, Eric Gordon (who got 30 again last night) and Derrick Rose, among others, this is a hell of a freshman class.
