How far off would I be if I compared Kevin Love to Greg Ostertag during his days at Kansas?

Big, strong guys who move you off the block, get good position, and score with moves you learn in eighth grade but still work.

Love strikes me as a better passer than Ostertag.

You know, Ostertag was someone I thought of comparing him to. I am also thinking more of Big Country.

Kent was trying to do something nice for his alma mater and the school that gave him his first coaching job. Kind of like Sampson inviting UNC-Pembroke to Assembly Hall... only the Hoosiers won in a route. St. Mary's is obviously a legit team for the WCC. Now if we could just get more of those conference games out east.

That's a good call, too. But didn't Big Country have to do it ALL for OkieState, while Love and Ostertag have talent around them?

Everybody keeps saying Bill Walton, which is pretty obvious based on his passing skills. But with his bigger body type, he kind of reminds me of a baby Arvydas Sabonis. Not as tall, obviously, but a great passer and damn near immovable down low. Both of them have better range than your average big man but are smart enough to know they're going to pay their mortgage by scoring in low.

Also good. But I don't catch much NBA until after the Final Four. And Walton played before my time.

Doc, trust me, I like Love 1000 times more than O.J. Mayo.

I need to watch more of both, but I am thinking Wes Unseld might be a better comparason for Love. Unseld seemed to be much quicker off his feet, though.

Yes, I like Unseld. Nice call.

On the Kent thing, yes it was nice of him to give SMC a nice home date, but still seems ill-advised.

  10. I think comparing him to Sabonis is a good call. He's not quite as tall, but has the same-type skillset that the big fella did.
I think he may end up staying next year, though, because I don't see him testing out well for NBA teams and you know how much the scouts go for the athletic freaks (Tyrus Thomas) instead of the basketball players (Jameer Nelson).
As a UCLA fan, I'd HATE it if Love had to stay a few extra years. [/sarcasm]

As a Wazzu fan, he can go right now. Be interesting to watch him battle Brook Lopez, assuming the later gets his shit together.

It's mainly about J.J. Hickson getting much of the playing time that went to Ben McCauley last year. Crap like this didn't happen under Herb Sendek or with a guy like Engin Atsur running the team on the floor.

This needs to be solved quickly.
