Oh, I know. When I started at Tech in 1993, a lot of people laughed at me for going to football games. Tech sucked and all. But all I know is that Tech has won two ACC championships in four years in the league, and that doesn't sit well with the folks in Hooville, considering UVa has NEVER won an outright ACC football championship.

I would love to see him jump to the NFL just for the sheer fun of watching another Alabama coaching search.

Jeez, Cosmo, I try to dance around the issue and you just get right down to it.

Agreed on your point about missing on a stud recruit - Lalich was the face of the program the moment he set foot at UVa (I'll refrain from saying "on Grounds" here). The smug, 12-year-old looking face. UVa made a mistake making him The Future Of The Team. Then again, UVa football is no stranger to mistakes these days.

Now they've got to find another QB. Thankfully Sewell is coming back so they can at least have a passable starter next year now that Verica has turned back into a pumpkin. Maybe Riko Smalls will be the answer. If he is, I imagine he'll be finishing his career under a different coach. Hell, it's looking like he'll at least have a different offensive coordinator in the next few days.

Although the rumors swirling around Charlottesville indicate that big Groh might not want to get too comfortable just yet...

Somewhere, someone is reporting that Skip Holtz is coming to Syracuse. I can't find the link, but an editor just called and spilled the beans.

That would make some sense. Not sure how much more he can do at East Carolina and I suspect, unlike Steve Logan, he's a little more eager to move on.

Even though this makes me feel like an Internet fanboi, I have it on pretty good authority that Auburn took another run at Houston Nutt on Saturday morning.

    I mean, WTF?

Hard to blame Auburn. But if I were Nutt, I would stay in Oxford. He built up enough goodwill, and maybe the athletic department learned its lesson in patience after ignorantly dumping David Cutcliffe.

    Maybe.

Turner Gill at Auburn and Charlie Strong at State?
Some will be spinning in their graves if that happens.
I don't know anything about Gill outside of he's done a fantastic job at a school that I didn't know had football until this season.
