Even if he did he'd leave with a better record than 5-19.

There is a school of thought out there that Auburn "choosers" weren't happy enough with the available pool of candidates for head coach.
So, they hired Chizik for a 1 or 2 year run that will end with perhaps a more attractive pool to pick the new guy from.

They're kidding themselves. If Chizik doesn't maintain the level of the program, coaches won't want to touch it (See Syracuse). Never mind that the way Auburn treated Tommy Tuberville has been noted by many of the other coaches. Similar to Mississippi, it will burn Auburn down the road.

They hired Chizik because they couldn't or wouldn't hire anyone better — plain and simple.

Things will improve when Lowder finally runs out of court appeals and can leave the Board of Trustees. He'll still be behind the scenes, but then he can just be labeled a rogue booster...

If Chizik can get hired at Auburn with only five wins, think what former Eastern Michigan coach Jeff Genyk could get with a 15-42 record.

The others said no, meaning either Tuberville's buyout is costing them too much and they're lowballing coaches or the contracts did little to protect them should a bad season do to them what it did to Tuberville.

In other words, Auburn and its fanbase is even more delusional than most of the lunatic fringe.

I don't know what the deal is in Auburn, but saying they weren't happy with the available candidates is bogus. The only thing that might change in two years is the toxic stink on the Plains might diminish a bit.

If the program, its athletic department and its big boosters don't stop mistreating people, it won't matter. Good coaches will stay away in droves, no doubt because other openings are either more enticing or at least have decent people in the right places that don't wield knives when one is not looking.

It ain't fan base because Aubie's aren't as entitled as many Bammers.

It's this guy who's the problem:

things like this are why Aubie does his bidding...
And things like this are why others laugh and shake their head in amazement

Be interesting to see a breakdown on the money numbers for Auburn's deal.
One of the strangest hires of this century.
Great move for the rest of the conference though. Auburn goes to the cellar for the next few years.

Slap, if that's the case, Auburn will reap what it sows.

Enjoy the basement, gang. Hope you shovel out all that manure down there since your stay might not be so temporary.
