It certainly isn't the "Oh Shit" moment that Michigan fans experienced when Ohio State hired Jim Tressel

best-case scenario is Chizik's another Tubs (8-9 wins a year). worst case he's a disaster. no matter what happens he won't be able to compete with Saban, Richt and Meyer.

They better beat Ball State next year.

They also get La. Tech and Derek Dooley in the opener.

As lacking as Richt has shown himself to be, there's no way Chizik can out-recruit him.

As long as Pollard is AD, forget any notion of Danny Mac returning to Iowa.

Bill Krause, Bill Knapp, and Dick Jacobson, for as big boosters go in Iowa, isn't as motherfucking insane like Bobby Lowder. It's like Blago trying to convince the Chicago aldermen to kick Daley out and replace him with Jane Byrne. Oh wait, I should say replacing Daley with Blago himself.

ISU fans shouldn't rip on Chizik for bolting out. Don't they remember what Johnny Majors said about ISU when he was the head coach there? It's a stepping stone to a better job.

I was wondering. Do most college football programs require all coaches to have college degrees?

I know the Big Ten has a rule that all varsity coaches must have degrees, or be in progress toward one.

Not sure if other conferences, or the NCAA, have such a rule.

Sidney Lowe at N.C. State had to finish up his bachelor's degree before he could officially start coaching.

Tuberville's 8-9 wins a year was a symptom of Mike DuBose, the NCAA, Mike Price and Mike Shula. That era of Auburn football is over, no matter who the coach is.

With Saban at Alabama, Meyer at Florida and Richt at Georgia, Auburn has no strong recruiting territory. None.

That said, they'd have a better chance to win if they'd kept Tubs or hired someone who would energize the fan base and excite recruits. And they didn't do that.
