I like the USF comparison. There is no reason why SDSU should not be a decent program. California has a ton of talent and it's not exactly a tough sell to bring an 18-year-old to the best city in the country in my opinion.

Fresno's ahead of SDSU at this point and SJSU isn't far behind.

I know you're responding to Mizzou, but I said no higher than fifth. And there's absolutely no reason why San Diego St. shouldn't be just as successful as Fresno. I've never been to Fresno, but I can't imagine many better places on Earth to spend your college years than in the San Diego area -- especially if you're someone who grew up in the SoCal area.

Christ, if you can build a prominent football program in Boise, Idaho, you can build one just about anywhere.

If I were Pollard, I wouldn't exactly be standing in the doorway to keep Cheez-ik in Ames. That 5-19 record smells like a New Jersey swamp in the summertime heat.

The Nick-tator is going eat Cheez-ik for breakfast, lunch and dinner on the recruiting trail. Chuck was right. Turner Gill would have been a much better choice. Even though the MAC isn't the Big 12. Unless you don't play Texas, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State in one season.

San Diego State's main problem is that they compete for attention with the pro franchises, something Fresno and Boise and most of the other smaller towns don't. The programs SD State will be recruiting against have better facilities, more passionate fans and stronger alumni/corporate support. Playing in the Mountain West and its location might be its strongest selling point against Boise and Fresno.

UB held a press conference out at Ralph Wilson Stadium this afternoon, following the Bulls' practice in the fieldhouse there. Turner Gill's contract has been extended through 2013, making him one of the highest-paid coaches in the MAC.

Ah! You beat me to it. Hooray for Turner staying, for now.

From now on, every season UB gets from Gill is a bonus.

That's nice, but if he gets a shot at a decent BCS-level job, he's still gone.

Like Pseudo said, I don't think any realistic Bulls fan thinks Gill will be around for 2010.

But it looks like they'll get one more year with him to further strengthen their program and take advantage of another cycle of recruiting before he takes off after next season.

I'd also be worried about losing the AD, he has a lot of positives. That's why the Bulls need to get into the Big East so they have a better chance to keep the good coaches they get.

Syracuse will never let that happen.
