Totally unrelated, but what the hell is Washington doing paying Nick Holt $2.1 million over three? Had they rolled that coin into their head job they might have done better than Sarkisian.

Thanks, I thought Temple has a coach who was black, just didn't know if it was before or after they left the Big East.

 

Ron Simmons coached at Okie State before Gundy, I believe.

 

Bob Simmons is the name you're looking for, and you're correct (although there was Les Miles in between them).

 

And don't forget John Blake at OU. Though I'm sure Sooner fans would like to.

 

The reason we might not be talking about the Ivies hiring black coaches is because we are talking about good jobs. There are lots of black coaches in bad FCS jobs. I give the Pac-10 just as much heat as the SEC, if not not more. DeWayne Walker starting at NMSU while Washington hires Sarkisian and Arizona State and UCLA recycle Erickson and Neuheisel is what I'm talking about.

I do not know that I would make a different decision than these ADs, but it certainly appears to be worth the conversation.

 

I don't have a problem with Erickson going to ASU, UCLA picking Neuheisel is a different deal.
