So does anyone in the SJ Rockies Division know anything about BYU? I know that it pissed rain and that the UVa and BYU offenses both looked like dogshit, but can the Hoos take anything from this win?

Watching McNeese and South Florida on ESPN3. Took about a quarter and a half for the South Florida fans to turn on Taggert. No worries though, Willie, they won't be there any more this season to turn on you.

Would like to read a story about South Florida. The rise and immediate destruction of a wanna-be.

Weren't they No. 2 at some point within the last 5 years?

They reached No. 2 at one point in 2007. (Lost the Sun Bowl to an Oregon team that also was ranked No. 2 at one point that season.)

If Georgia wins out, it still wins the SEC and probably gets a shot in the BCS title game. No disgrace in losing by three at Clemson. On the other hand, they could have stayed home, beat Savannah State 66-3 and raked in a couple of million.

Well, they do have North Texas and Appalachian State coming up on the schedule, although after what happened in week one to Oregon State, Iowa State, South Florida, UConn, Kansas State and San Diego State, Georgia better not relax too much against Appy.

But I doubt it will be a problem for them past the middle of the third quarter or so.

Just in case you're interested ... here's Clemson running down the hill to face Georgia in 1963:

The seven FCS teams who pulled the upsets Saturday pulled in $2.4 million for their efforts.

Appy State can play some ball. At least, could. Not sure how this season's unit stacks up.

There was some whining on one thread that some SEC teams don't play good non-conference games. OK, fine. So Georgia goes to Clemson to play an out of conference top 10 team and gets beat in a close game. Let's see how much they get penalized? If it's more than a spot or two, there goes any remaining incentive for any heavyweight to venture out of its home ever again.

People wanna complain that Florida hasn't played a non-conference game out of state since 1991. Well, guess what? They go to Miami this week and play FSU every season. That's more than enough.

I think Florida playing Miami was enough when Florida was a perennial top 5 team and so was Miami. But neither are any more. You don't move up in the rankings by beating teams you should. You move up by beating teams thought to be better than you.
