"A couple years ago at Tallahassee." Man, is that ever off. They never went to Tallahaseee, and appears their last meeting with FSU was at a neutral site EIGHT years ago.

Just did a quick glance at their recent schedules, and appears that PSU game in 2011 is the only remotely challenging road game Bama's scheduled in over a decade, and I don't know how much longer, finally stopped looking for another when I got back around 2004. Don't consider one road challenge every decade or two to exactly be extending yourself with the scheduling

I'm burned out on the neutral site games too, but to act like they aren't playing anybody is ridiculous. Clemson, Va. Tech (x2), West Virginia, Michigan and Wisconsin (with Southern Cal and Florida State to come) is plenty respectable.

Golly, I'm sorry if I've offended you. I'll try to better next time. Help me understand, though, which banner I'm waving?!?!....If you speak slowly, I MAY be able to understand. Or not. It's all so confusing.

Let me clarify my comment. If that's ok. I'd hate to irritate you any further. According to what I've heard (although I may be wrong...this hasn't been vetted w/ Mr. Aracdes), Coach Saban (of Alabama...one of the universities who's team is participating in the game) has a bit of an ego. Much of it deserved, as he's had great past success!! I know, because I looked it up on the interwebs!!!!!

As of late, however, Coach Saban's young charges have struggled in postseason play (again, painstakingly researched on the interwebs) . This has lead to much thumping of chests in the Great Lakes region of our proud nation (didn't need to look THAT one up....as I reside there. Of course, this does qualify as hear say. Oh crap, this may make the observation invalid...guess I'd better run it past the wisened Mr. Arcades....), as well as GREAT angst & rending of garments in the Southeast and Atlantic Coast regions (no need to research, Phyllis from Mulga told me), aka, 'murica.

My conclusion, therefore, is that Coach Saban will attempt to not merely defeat...... but truly eviscerate the invading horde from the north, as a means to...temporarily at least...return pride to the magical land of Alabama , & thus via extension, the almighty Southeastern Conference. And possibly save Phyllis (from Mulga) an aneurysm, and almost certain early death.

    Amen.

So what's the statute of limitations on how recently they have to play somebody for it to count?
Considering they can only realistically schedule one or two of those a year and that the matchups are booked at least a few years in advance, eight years is not an unreasonable amount of time. I'd say 10 years is fine, as long as you're scheduling Power 5 teams on a consistent basis -- which Alabama has done.

If my wife and I lived 30 minutes from our alma mater, we'd have season tickets. But we're a good eight hours away, on the other side of the mountains. Last year our alma mater didn't have a Saturday afternoon home game until late October (which we went to; our son's first game). We stayed with my in-laws who live about two hours away. Before that game, there was one Thursday night game, two Friday games and the rest Saturday night games. Something like 90 percent of the alumni live in the I-5 corridor of Oregon and Washington, meaning at least a five-hour drive across the mountains. I still love the game day experience and atmosphere, but being that far away means it takes up the whole weekend.
My in-laws have been longtime Seahawks season ticket holders and love the whole experience.
