People may also remember the steaming turd they laid in the opener last year at Northwestern.

Yup. And that opening stinker against Northwestern last year will weigh on expectations for week 1.

Biggest problem for Stanford for me is they have what is arguably the toughest schedule in the country. A lot of places for them to stumble.

EDIT: Sorry, didn't see your post dixie.

    No doubt.

BTW that is going to be the deadest atmosphere of the weekend. Students aren't back for another three weeks, and it's a 6 p.m. start in the absolute most difficult place to get to in the Bay Area during traffic.

I could see them changing their tune due to fact that this is one of their few high visibility games, and they feel that McCaffrey got screwed last year.

Is it a requirement that a Gopher coach has to be "pasty looking"?

Tracy Klewes makes Wannstedt look like Lombardi with some of his play calling.

Not sure if the Joshes connect for a 67-yard TD last year, either.

But it's fun parking between the trees.

For Alabama to slip up and lose two, that'd probably mean another SEC team (LSU, Ole Miss, Georgia, maybe even Tennessee) is sitting there with 11 wins with the bonus benefit of starting high in the polls. It'd have to be more than Alabama stumbling in the SEC.

Not only that, but wishing for chaos so that it will benefit two teams from the 2nd-most powerful conference and a team that has had its own TV network for 20-odd years seems like talking out of both sides of your mouth.

Like K State plus 15 only because Snyder with an entire offseason to scheme might be on par with Shaw, a new QB for Stanford and it's Week 1.

Offenses are often clunky in week 1, especially with limits on practice time and only 85 scholarships.

Stanford will get rolling. But K State will carry them for a bit. This game feels like a backdoor cover from 27-10 to 27-17 late.
