Neither team knows what the F it is doing once it gets the lead. They get scared.

That last 2 1/2 minutes was a play calling abomination on both sides.
Notre Dame with three running plays, when they have 2 1/2 minutes, one timeout, and momentum to work with.
Texas self-destructing after the penalty, and almost accidentally moving the ball up the field before that. Should have run a draw on either second or third down, picked up the free 10 yards, and left yourself a chance to chuck it into the end zone on the last play.
And then Notre Dame, WTF? You have 15 seconds and a timeout, and they're punting on their side of the field. Why in God's name don't you send 11 guys and try to block that thing? You have absolutely nothing to lose. Worst case scenario is exactly what happened -- they get the punt off, it lands deep and you take a knee to go to overtime. They didn't even rush the punter.
Both coaching staffs just seemed to lose their balls after that two-point return.

That "Kick 2" was pretty awesome, though.

When ND was desperate, they were really good on offense. When they reverted to the smash-mouth or read option, they would just stall.

    Hell of a game.

All Swoopes can do it a variation of one play. And ND can't stop it.

Good for Charlie Strong, a legitimately decent guy by all accounts.

Also, memo to Gus Malzahn: If you're going to rotate quarterbacks, it helps if both guys are actually worth a shit.

Entertaining game. But "Texas is back"? LOL. The battleship is pointed the right way but they've got a couple of Cactus Bowl, Holiday Bowl-level appearances to slog through before they can think playoffs.

Playoffs? Don't talk about—playoffs?! You kidding me? Playoffs?!

Its obvious Strong's players love him, whereas I think red ass Kelly's fear him. So glad I was wrong about this game.

Many of us were wrong about a LOT of games this weekend. Which is why I love this.

For teams that scored 97 points, they only totaled 961 yards.
