I think the phrase "win out" has become a questionable assumption about anybody but Alabama. Some of Steak's scenarios will come to pass, but I bet not all of them. Maybe not half.

For USC to be South champion it has to beat UCLA and have Colorado has to lose to Wazzu, while Utah would have to lose one more time, to either Colorado or Oregon.

    Colorado 6-1
    USC 6-2
    Utah 5-2

USC beat Colorado. Utah beat USC. Utah and Colorado play on the 26th.

Just for clarification, Michigan still wins the East if it wins out, including tOSU.

The point is, I think Washington is the only PAC-12 team that has a shot at the playoff right now.

Colorado would probably be behind Oklahoma even if both win out. And Wazzu's loss to Eastern Washington is going to kill it with the committee.

Correct. Ohio State needs Penn State to lose, though.

Not disagreeing. A 10-3 Pac-12 champion USC team isn't going to the playoffs no matter what.

You can say that all 3 losses were to teams that were ranked at the time but that doesn't fly anymore.

This could end up as a chance to see how much conference championships mean. Not so much if PSU wins it, because they've got the win over tOSU. But if Wisconsin takes the title game over PSU, you have a two-loss champion, with one of the losses coming at home against tOSU, which itself only has only one loss in a tough road game.

If they're going to follow form and say the conference championships are the de facto round of eight, we'll find that out in that scenario, I guess.

Yes. And with PSU closing with Rutgers and MSU, that's not happening.

If Iowa Woman hooked up with Florida Man, I shudder to think of the depraved shenanigans that would ensue.

That hookup could happen in a public restroom, if I remember a certain Metrodome incident ...
