“So why the ACC third? Because many of the universities within the conference are esteemed educational schools, led by the same academic minds that populate the Big Ten. Particularly Duke, North Carolina, Virginia, Georgia Tech and even Florida State (surprisingly, the No. 18 public university nationally) were supposed to be in lockstep with the Big Ten and wield enough power to force the entire ACC into following the Big Ten's lead.”

    That tone is uncalled for.

Another thing about the ACC. Two of its schools, Syracuse and BC, are in states whose governors would not hesitate to shut them down if they became covid clusters.

Three states. Tom Wolf isn’t fucking around in Pennsylvania. He’s fought with the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association until the rednecks who run the PIAA said, “we’ll do what we want...........but could you grant us a liability waiver.” They didn’t get it. Now he’s got every Goddamned pissed off football mommy and daddy mad because they’re saying no fans.

I played exactly one season at UCA and not that anyone cares but what they’re doing there is criminal.
But because it’s a third banana program in a small state it isn’t going to get critical coverage.
All the school cares about is “exposure” and with them being the only game going for the next month, they’re going to get national tv broadcasts.
That’s what they care about. And when it all goes south Brad Teague and Houston Davis should be held accountable but they won’t.

My understanding is that UCA is staying in Alabama for the week, with Montgomery on Saturday, and then bus up to Birmingham, where they'll camp out at a local hotel then play UAB on Thursday before flying/busing home.

UAB is reportedly picking up the costs for the hotel, meals and Covid testing.

Plus, Cole Fucking Cubelic said UCA did a nice job getting a schedule together. That's the kind of national coverage UCA administration will shoot into their eyeballs.

And, for the exposure addicts there, UCA has 8 of its 9 games set to be broadcast on national TV and for program that usually runs 1 to none, that kind of coverage is worth some players and coaches getting sick. If some die, they died for ESPN and that's worth it.

That's a week of missed classes for players and student managers and trainers.

COVID has spread so badly on NCSU's campus that the chancellor is clearing out the dorms. Apparently, the Charlie Foxtrot issue from The Daily Tar Heel in Chapel Hill has worked its way 30 miles east.

(Take note, Betsy and Donald. If this is a problem at the university level, do you really think that 5- and 6-year-olds can really be that responsible when you try to march kids back into elementary schools?)

This is not meant to be a smartass question. I know the University of Arkansas is the top banana in the state. But who is the second banana?

And a second Arkansas football question. I have been to 47 of 50 states but not Arkansas so I need to get there Is a Razorback game worth going to as a one time experience. And do the games sell out? I like to sit in the Bob Uecker section where I can have extra space for my very wide butt.

Arkansas State would be second banana but the reality is high school football is a bigger deal then UCA football.

You can generally get tickets pretty easy for football as it seats about 76,000 and rarely has a sellout. A hotel room is usually harder to get then a football game ticket.

The Crystal Bridges museum is world class and free thanks to Walton family billions.

if you really want to cross Arkansas off your list, book a cheap flight to Memphis and take a cab across the river to the dog track In West Memphis. Real dirtbag experience wagering on dogs. Now that they have a casino, the dog track will eventually close, so that’s a limited time option.

Hell if we're going by won-loss records in the past decade, Arkansas State is whatever fruit you want to put ahead of the banana. The Red Wolves have done better on the field and in identifying coaching talent.

Team Covid. Who would have thought Central Arkansas would get on ESPN at all? This thing is perfect for them.
And Cole Cubelic is the perfect conduit.
If the SEC somehow shuts down, he's going to go insane.
