The media wants there to be a domino effect.

    Not sure there will be.

FCS, D2 and D3 levels will have a domino effect. The first P-5 to fall will be the Pac-12.

    Will it?

Northwest Missouri State and Valdosta give a shit what Princeton does?

I’ll give you this: The stiffs at the NCAA probably care what Princeton does. So they could shut down NW Mo and Valdosta football on sheer principle.

Conferences control P-5, not the NCAA. And, yes, schools/conferences give a shit what Princeton does. Not saying they follow their lead. But they are not ignoring what's going on.

What’s going on has nothing to do with the Ivy League. The Ivy League, to its credit, simply has no pretense that it has to care about sports.

This isn’t true of many, many places.

Schools care in the sense that it’s “something happening.” And that, as days move on, you’ll see more crusty politicians and commentarians cite the Ivy League’s decision.

This is easy for the Ivy because it doesn't send teams to the FCS playoffs. And it won't play in the spring because of logistics. Not playing football will save lots of money for the Ivy. Basketball? That's a different animal.

Drop in the bucket. The Ivy League doesn’t need a dime of that money either.

I know you've been arguing this for awhile, and I respectfully disagree.

What I think the media really wants is a concrete decision on high school, college and NFL football. Will it be played? Will the schedules be altered? How will they handle the virus?

Unfortunately, no one has those answers yet ... and the media is even less patient than the public, if that's possible.

I think the media's job is often to ask questions that make it look impatient. The presence of a questioning media should, at least in theory, cut down on colleges' ability to cut corners.

    Ten-game conference-only sked likely for B1G grid.
