Committee lighting up a cigar with a big grin and putting its feet up watching this UGA-FSU game.

PHD dissertations have been done on the economic value of brands. Bowl games are an example. The Orange Bowl, for example, has a brand value. The Rose Bowl has a higher value (the slogan "the granddaddy of them all" is an economic asset). The Whatever Credit Union Bowl brand is basically worthless.

Nobody thinks it’s weird that college football plays its exhibition games at the end of the season?

Which would prove the committee is exactly as stupid as it's already shown.

This business of opting out helps make the case for an even larger tournament than 12 teams.

Make the players stay invested in their team, program, school, and fans, until they lose.

Being in the running with the hope to lift the shiny Golden Labia trophy might keep some of these “student-athletes” committed through the whole season.

Well, NASCAR's Super Bowl is the first race of the season.

Unfair and inaccurate. The guy was a great high school player but if he was the best QB in the country his senior year, there must not have been many good QBs. He checked a lot of boxes, though, probably went to all the right camps and now is about what those of us who saw him play a decent amount thought he would be. Still a great kid, but I feel bad for how this is working out for him.

    From Twitter
If my math is correct*, Florida State will be without...
    97% of pass yards
    73% of receiving yards
    91% of rushing yards
    59% of TFLs
    45% of tackles
    9% of OL snaps (!)
    40% of PBUs

*it's probably not but close at least.

Interesting stat from Ole Miss' postgame notes. Today they had only the second successful two-point conversion in the program's 41 bowl games. The other was in the 2000 Music City Bowl, on a pass thrown by Eli Manning.
