Sanders comes across as knowing what he's doing, knowing how to break down film, knowing how to get an offense down the field ... and zero clue with how to lead a team or say the right thing to avoid dividing the locker room or setting a tinderbox ablaze.

If this stuff about Ward has any semblance of truth to it, he and Sanders might have hurt themselves in the draft. Players with talent have failed in the NFL over smaller issues than these.

This Cam Ward didn't save these Hurricanes.

Doeren apologized for what occurred at the end of the game during the postgame presser:

That's a start, Dave. Now ... to be proactive about it in the future instead of reactive in postgame ...

OK, it’s official: I’m tired of the announcers sucking the collective Sanders dick.

I'm guessing discipline is even tougher to administer in the Players Rights era. If any of the miscreants is a starter, suspending for the 2025 opener might simply drive the player into the portal.

I don’t think it’s the greatest thing but it feels a little curious that Cam Ward is getting crucified for playing two more quarters than you’d expect this decade from a projected top-5 pick.

Also the CU duo being left in until the bitter end was borderline malpractice. It was 36-7 late in the fourth quarter and both were still in. That’s the point when you pull the starters if it is week 4, never mind a random bowl.

And everyone seems to be assuming he surprised the coaches and team and refused to go back in. I'd be shocked if that was the case.

Nobody would have questioned him for sitting out the whole game.

But why play at all if you're not going to play the whole game?

I say this as someone who was indignant when Christian McAffery breached the dam for opt-outs and has slowly adjusted to the new reality. But the jig is up. This is the Senior Bowl with grocery aisle products. You can lean into the silliness and glean whatever entertainment is on offer or you are better off switching hobbies after Thanksgiving weekend. It will never again be what we grew up with.
