That’s not the event that needs it. But if the Waste Management Open is looking to spice things up …

I could totally see that sponsor signing up Pop Tarts’ marketing agency and going all in on the dancing garbage bins.

They’d better sign the Dancing Garbage Bins soon. They’re opening for the Trash Can Sinatras starting in March.

I have watched a couple of CFP games this year … but no bowl games at all. They just feel irrelevant.

I haven't watched a bowl game from kickoff to final horn, but have caught snippets of several games on XM or the TeeeVeees.

Listening to the announcers on the Toledo-Pitt game in the 6th overtime? Fun.

Watching BeeYyyYooo throttle Colorado? Fun. Seeing players make fun catches, tackles, sacks, runs, throws and kicks, and I don't have a stake in any of it other than enjoying football? Fun.

I'm looking forward to the CFP games and, yes, they're important financially and for the universities. But you can't tell me the guys from Toledo aren't over the moon about beating Pitt and never will forget it. USC driving for the win. Navy! Or that BYU is basking in beating the shit out of the Buffs. To me that's what's at the core of football: fun, memories, payoff for hard work, all those things.

Unless I have a connection with one of the teams, I can't see how.

I'd rather see Valdosta State-Ferris State. They excelled at the job presented before them. 6-6 teams did not excel at it.

If it wasn't for gambling purposes, I'd probably have watched only the CFP first-round games.

And the way gambling is going with these bowl games and not knowing how all the opt-outs and portal guys will affect things, this may be my last year of gambling on bowl games in large quantities. Other than a few feelings and hunches when dealing with teams that I know and follow throughout the season, it's basically like playing darts while blindfolded.

The thought occurs just now that Bill Belichick could someday have a bucket of mayonnaise dumped on his head. THAT would be the bowl event of the season, sunset be damned.

Do you have a connection to Penn State vs. Boise State or Georgia vs. Notre Dame? I have no connection to any team left, but I will still watch the Sugar and Rose bowls.

I absolutely agree on Valdosta vs. Ferris State. I covered DII for 30 years and used to be a national voter. I'd say the same for FCS. The two best games last weekend were the FCS semifinals. Those are still pure college football. I doubt anyone would opt out of the second half of the championship game.

I might watch Penn State-Boise State even if I wasn't in Pennsylvania, because it's two teams chasing a national title (no, neither will win it), and also because it's truly a unique matchup, and also because blue turf.

Georgia-Notre Dame? I might turn my head toward it if it's on a nearby TV.

I'll be hate watching the Georgia game because Kirby has become so insufferable.
