I cussed Mizzou the whole game, but that fourth quarter proved their mettle. The Tiggers winning 21 games the last two seasons is a high-water mark for this school.

And where do they keep getting these kickers? This clutch gene never was part of the Mizzou makeup

As a Texan and a 25-year refugee from a state with a delusional fan base stuck in 1964, I congratulate Mizzou and feel empathy for your Hawkeyes.

There's some high-level excuse-making going on here. There's a full 10 days between the end of the first round and the start of the quarterfinals (Dec.31 - the Rose Bowl is a full day later). Rose Bowl teams have ALWAYS spent a portion of their holiday in SoCal (except for 1942 of course).

All involved are so full of shit their eyes are turning brown.

That was a horrible spot. But no way to challenge it. Then they dinked around, had they lined up quickly and sneaked he would have easily made it.

Is there a reason the LSU-Baylor line for the Texas Bowl has shifted six or seven points and crossed the Rubicon?
It opened at LSU -3, and now Baylor is favored by 3.5.
I'm not seeing too many major opt-outs and portal players on either side — whatever ones there are probably even out — and LSU's quarterback is going to play. I bet it about 10 days ago when LSU was -1.5 and just saw the line today and did a double take.

You'd think Disney and Lawry's would at least give each player and coach a raincheck for a future visit. I think most of this is on the teams and coaches, who want this to be a "normal road game," don't want to worry about spies and keep the players focused. How schools who won 10 days ago are managing getting their marching bands to Atlanta, Pasadena, Glendale and New Orleans with 10 days notice is the real trick. The bowls can reserve a block of rooms of course, but organizing a halftime show in 10 days? (Im guessing they'll just do a repeat of an earlier show?), dealing with travel?

Probably not too bad on the bands since all of the home teams won. I'm sure they had plans in place and have a routine from previous bowl trips. They also didn't have the difficult logistical turnaround the road teams would've had to bring everything back home and ship it out again (assuming they went to the first-round games to begin with).

And even if the road teams had won, I'm not sure any of them would've had a tough time with the logistics. Tennessee and Indiana were reasonably close to home for their first-round games, and Clemson would've been almost home for its Round 2 game so everything just goes back to campus before it goes out again. SMU would've had two long trips, but all the gear would've been trucked back through Dallas anyway on the way to Glendale, so its trucks would've come back home for a day or two as well.

And its always struck me that we're approaching the biggest day in college football, Jan. 1 - and unlike the Super Bowl, it might actually be "underhyped." Particularly this year when you have schools from every time zone still in play. But I have to think, a lot of sports yakkers are taking time off around the holidays, or they're focused on the NFL, the programs involved are in media lockdowns. I've heard more talk about the NBA than the NY4 in recent days.

    Yes.

It’s because the casinos are in the business of making money. They do that by taking it away from suckers.

    Like you.
