The Freedom Bowl and the All-America Bowl nod their defunct heads.

 

That's the point. You've got conference championship teams unable to play in bowls because they no longer have a team. You have other teams hoping not to make their conference championship game because it could hurt them making the playoffs.
They've created a system where teams and players don't want to play.

 

Kinda interesting Notre Dame is listed as slight favorite (1 1/2 points) over Georgia in the Sugar Bowl if that matchup happens.

 

Beck is not playing, right? Georgia looked horrible without him.

 

The new Pop-Tarts Bowl trophy now has a working toaster on it.

 

You could have a plumbing manufacturer sponsor it and call it the Portal Potty Bowl.

* Saying "they have no roster" is inaccurate.
* There were 28 players in the portal per 247 as of Saturday afternoon; 30-plus per Marshall beat writer.
* There were 112 players on the roster, per Sportsource analytics.
* Of the 22 starters in the Sun Belt title game, 14 are NOT in the portal. Of the 62 who played, 47 are NOT in the portal. Entire O-line NOT listed in portal, and 9/11 offensive starters. Defense 5/11 NOT listed in portal.
* Top 3 QBs in portal; at least three others on the roster.

 

Maybe hasn't risen enough -- the Penn State backup just bailed for the portal; if Allar was leaving you'd think he wouldn't

 

They had no QBs with a semblance of experience and they had next to no coaches. I suspect the AD who forced out Charles Huff didn't want to saddle his new hire with the stench of a lopsided bowl loss even if the new guy wouldn't have actually coached in the game.
And the game's in Shreveport.

 

They would have had three weeks to get their fourth-string QB ready. It wouldn't be the end of the world if that's what they had to go with
