Most intelligent adults from Michigan live somewhere other than Michigan because anywhere is better than living in Michigan.

I figured Michigan fans would tune in. But I didn’t know if Washington would move the needle or other Big 10 fans would hate watch. This seems to indicate they did.

Birmingham not cracking the top 5 is wild to me, since we usually lead the nation in “neutral” college football viewership. And it was a rotten weather night, so it isn’t like people were out partying downtown instead.

Sounds a lot like the NAIA in the 1980s. Most of those schools had made a lateral move to NCAA D-II but there were a number of holdouts in the midsection of the country that, well, held out. I believe Dennis Rodman and Scottie Pippen were featured in that time.

You just know Jimbo's agent is on the phone to Pat Kraft. "Yeah they contacted us last night..." The only thing he's good at winning is contract extensions.

He is saying, "Oh, my f***ing God" there, isn't he?

He is. That was 2021 I believe when he sat on his own balls again by trying the fake field goal instead of kicking.

I sure am seeing a lot of "Thanks to everyone . . . I'm declaring for the NFL draft" posts from players who have ZERO college eligibility left.

Or do we just assume everybody has 6-8 years of eligibility these days?

    FYP.

I haven't really weighed in too much here on this, but this whole national championship thing has been, for me, something deeply satisfying and fun but not exactly an ecstatic experience.

You see, I am what folks derisively call a "Wal-Mart Wolverine." Even wrote a column to that effect several years ago when I was, you know, in Michigan. I was all in on the U of M myth when I was in school. I don't remember the 1989 Final Four, but the Fab Five happened when I was seven and the 1997 co-championship when I was 13. I remember going to a recruitment night in Marquette when I was maybe 15 and finding out that they didn't have a journalism major. Now, if I had pushed a little harder I would have realized I could have done like Eisen and Schefter and major in English and write for the Daily and it would have turned out just fine, but that sent me looking elsewhere, and it turned out that I could get a journalism degree (and a broadcasting minor), be 2 1/2 hours closer to home (and even then, Mount Pleasant was a solid 5 1/2 from my parents), and, thanks to some good fortune, I came out of school into the lucrative world of community journalism with about $5,000 worth of loan debt instead of $105,000. And at Central, I managed to see us play in (and win a game) the Big Dance (while Michigan never made it), and CMU won the MAC my last semester in football. Had I been in Ann Arbor, I would have seen 47-13 with my last two games being a loss to Ohio State in a 1 vs. 2 game in 2006 and a loss in the Rose Bowl. I guess sometimes God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers?

The game was kind of the same way. I had to run into the office on my night off to let a reporter in (long story) to get equipment because there was a double murder/suicide in our coverage area during the game, but I streamed some of it from my desk until we got the all-clear. Other than the last four minutes of the first half, it didn't really feel like Michigan wasn't in control. I'm not a Stalions truther, but I do question what the overall utility of his work would have been especially within the confines of a play clock, and if Harbaugh leaves, at this point I'm OK with it. He's done his job and next year's probably going to be rough.

Still waiting on the Tigers (sort of, the 1984 Series happened when I was an infant), but otherwise I've been behind the winning side in two Super Bowls, three NBA Finals, four Stanley Cups, four NASCAR championships and three Daytona 500s, plus this in my lifetime. Not too damned bad.

Goddam ACC. How could they do that to those poor 'Noles.
Seriously, in a world where you can literally do anything in regards to paying these guys, what kind of hillbillies do you have operating this thing to run afoul of laws that hardly exist.
