I don't get leaving 5 years of 401k's, résumé solidarity and just productive income on the table (unless he's getting some sweet NIL).

Nine years, I'm sure Miami has postgraduate programs but usually you do 1 year for a Masters, and 1 year for a PHD.

Three years beyond that and you oughta be smart as a whip in the ways of your study. This guy's sell-by date as an entry high school coach is reducing rapidly.

This guy is a TE and is a dime a dozen on a playing field. God bless him keeping eligible somehow, but at the end of the day, let's be real.

I live in the real world.
    I'd avoid it too.

“And so my advice to you is this: Don’t go. It’s a jungle out there. Stay on the football team and let the NCAA and NIL take care of you.” — Thornton Mellon in 2024

It's a big contrast to the kid in the Feinstein article @John posted going into his 8th year of hoops at Howard. Seth Towns has a Harvard bachelors, an Ohio State masters and is working on a PhD at Howard.

McCormick doesn't appear to have earned his bachelors, yet. He's listed as a redshirt senior and not a graduate student in his official Miami bio.

Don't you have to - you know - make progress toward a degree to remain eligible?

The end of this Yahoo article says McCormick got his bachelor’s and master’s from Oregon.
