The teams played a full nine-game Big 12 schedule. TCU was undefeated; K State lost twice. K State also lost an OOC game (albeit to a very good Tulane team); TCU didn't. K State did win the Big 12 championship game.

TCU won its first bowl game, beating the #2 team in the country. KSU got rocked in its bowl. Yes, TCU got boatraced last night. But no way in hell can a 10-4 team be ranked ahead of a 12-2 team that played for the national title.

I can't stand Notre Dame, but even I can admit that they were a much better team at the end of the season than at the beginning when they lost to Marshall. If we're ranking teams in the moment, where they belong after their last game, No. 18 feels about right for them. They were a solid Top 25 team in Week 15 or wherever we are now.

You could tell during the Oregon game that Georgia was going to run the table again. There superiority was clear as day.

And every great team has one game where it fucks around, plays with its food for awhile and ultimately escapes. That was the Mizzou game for Georgia.

I knew it was going to be a long night for TCU when I saw how badly their defense was getting abused in the 1st quarter. Using the defense's aggressive flow to the ball to open up reverses and cutbacks was going to force them to attempt to change everything they do on the fly. Between that and the massive talent difference between the rosters it was over early.

Add that UGA's defense took out all their frustration over not being able to get to C.J. Stroud against the TCU OL and Max Duggan.

    Excellent offensive gameplan by UGA.

The only exception to that seems to be 1995 Nebraska, which was the poster child for title game beatdowns (62-24 over Florida) until Georgia's demolition.

All victories by 14 points or more, the closest "fuck around" game was when they allowed an 87-yard run to Washington State and trailed 7-0 after the first quarter before scoring the next 28 points. Even 2000 Miami, the only team IMO that could hold a candle to the '95 Huskers, had a 26-24 scare against Virginia Tech when the Hokies dropped a 2-point conversion pass that would have tied the game and threw an interception while driving for the winning FG.
