The BXII will rush-expand by 2 teams within a few weeks.

That is not in any way better than the Big Ten.

And anyhow, I'm not sure why what K-State did against Auburn should boost Baylor's or TCU's case. Both of them tried to sneak into the playoff by avoiding all danger. Too bad.

Big Ten's best noncon wins: Washington State, UCF, Fresno State, Pitt, Syracuse, Missouri, Miami-FL, Navy.

Nothing there to hang one's hat on outside of Mizzou.

How the fuck is this list any better than the Big 10's of Notre Dame, Missouri, Miami, Cincy, Wazzu, Pitt, etc.? You keep trying to argue a distinction that's minuscule at best, if not entirely non-existent.

No, it does not. Not in any way whatsoever.

If we're talking about wins that make a conference "appear deeper", then I'd say having your worst team beat the SEC East's best team on their home turf works pretty well. As does another of your worst winning at Notre Dame. Both of which happened with B10 with Indiana/Northwestern winning at Mizzou and ND.

I don't see any "depth indicator" non-con wins from the B12 that trump either of those.

If we're arguing conference-wide wins and losses, Indiana vs. Missouri is at least canceled out by Virginia Tech vs. Ohio State.
Both early-season games where the loser obviously improved over the next two months.
Bottom line, the playoff needs to be eight teams — five power conference champs and three wild-cards. The two-loss, non-championship teams getting screwed in the 6-10 position have much less of a case to bitch than a one-loss conference champion (or co-champ) who got left out because the committee had to split hairs between three deserving teams.

I basically agree with this. I certainly was not trying to boast about the Big 10, but instead was simply responding to this absurd notion DanOregon keeps floating suggesting there was some grand difference in the two conference's best non-con wins. There is not.

Truth is NEITHER conference bathed itself in glory this year, and I don't see the B12's best wins being any more impressive than the B10's. Hell, it appears to me the best win they had all year was over Minnesota, you really wanna be touting non-con performance when your best win all year was Minnesota? Is a win over Minnesota somehow better than road wins over Missouri or Notre Dame?

FWIW, Sargin has OSU's strength of schedule as 52, Baylor as 56.

Yeah, FSU pretty much sucks. The only thing it does consistently is score more points than its opponents.

If you missed FSU-Tech you missed one of the best games of the year. The Noles impressed the shit out of me. They had every reason to fold tent the way Georgia Tech ran it down their throats in the first half.

I'm no Big 12 fan, but I do give them a nod for (most teams) scheduling tougher non-cons and playing nine conference games. In a perfect world, all P5 teams would have nine conference games, a championship game and schedule more teams in their weight class.

Plus, the Big 12 was 3-0 against the Big 10, all three wins against teams with winning records.

I totally agree with this. Yeah, it feels a little weird that TCU won in a blowout but dropped out of the playoff... but I look at the final rankings and can't really argue with any of it. I think they ultimately got it right. I think Ohio State earned that final spot by gutting Wisconsin (and for the record, I HATE Ohio State).
