I agree, to an extent. I want the four best teams, and right now nobody in the B1G is anywhere close to that (Michigan State is closest, IMHO). But I also think the manner at which we're getting to the "four best teams" is still a bit broken.

The SEC is definitely a great conference, but I think wins in the SEC are grossly overblown and losses (or close wins) are just chalked up to being in the SEC. Obviously people have made reference to some of those instances and Rolling Stone touched on a few of them in its story.

That said, I think Ole Miss will lose two more games (Auburn and Mississippi State) before it's all said and done. I think Mississippi State will lose at least one, possibly two games before it's all said and done. I think the Iron Bowl winner, provided they stay focused and knock off the East winner, will be a lock for the playoff.

I think when the smoke clears, you'll likely have SEC champion, Big 12 champion, Florida State and Notre Dame/Pac 12 champion. Of course, given the way the season has gone, it wouldn't surprise me to see a bunch of 2-loss teams vying for the final spot. Hopefully that'll get us closer to an 8-team playoff sooner than later.

I'm beginning to think Mississippi State is going to lose to both Alabama and Ole Miss. MSU's defense is awful.

Yeah, I know Auburn won with a bad defense last year. But Auburn needed two absolute freakin' miracles to beat Georgia and Alabama.

I agree. Plus, if Prescott is really banged up as much as people are hinting, he loses a lot of what makes him special. Of course, I never quite bought into either Mississippi State or Ole Miss.

Of course, that Rose Bowl won't have a B1G team in it, you know. ;)

How about 2000? Undefeated Oklahoma plays one-loss Florida State in the championship. But one-loss Miami beat FSU. And one-loss Washington won at Miami and edged one-loss Oregon State at home. Oregon State whipped Oregon, which was the only team to beat Washington.

Any one of those one-loss teams had a legit case for playing Oklahoma in the national finals.

What there probably has never been is one conference having three of the best four teams in the country, and that isn't the case this year either.

Dude whaddya talking about...It's SEC football, the offenses are unstoppable too.

One of the non-SECbias talking heads literally mentioned Vandy and Tennessee as two of Georgia's big victories. It's almost laughable.

Next week will be interesting - regardless of what happens this week. I'm thinking the committee has the idea that they will "eat what they are served" - meaning they won't have a problem jumping teams that win over other teams that win if one opponent is stronger than another.

If they don't do just exactly that, they'll be eaten alive. If they are going to release a ranking weekly it damn well better recalibrate weekly in response to what happend the previous weekend.

SEC is 19-9 in bowl games the last three years, with one of those losses to an SEC team.

    Over last three years:

    SEC - 19-9
    PAC-12 - 12-12
    ACC - 11-14
    Big 12 - 11-14
    Big Ten 8-16

    SEC Sucks.

I can't tell if the SEC haters here are serious or are just trolling. I guess that's the genius of it.

If anyone can't understand that it's superior football right now, they don't understand football. Though I can empathize the backlash from a purely fanboi viewpoint.

Complaining if a one-loss SEC team is ranked ahead of one-loss teams from other conferences seems pointless. If as the season goes on two-loss SEC teams are rated ahead of one-loss teams from other conferences there will be a much louder and more valid outcry. But I don't expect that to happen.
