Central plays at Michigan State on Friday, and though the Chips aren't exactly on the upswing (4-8 last year), neither is MSU and CMU has won three times in Spartan Stadium since 1990, including a win over a top-20 MSU team in 1991 and a win over a Kirk Cousins-QB'ed Spartans team in 2008.

I think what Nebraska did was awesome - though I was curious how they accounted for sun glare and wind (not to mention keeping the court clean -- slipping is infinitely bigger of a problem in that setting).

One of my hotter takes is that college volleyball is much more interesting to me than college women's basketball. I think it's more "three-dimensional" and frankly, I love the aggressiveness you see in each point. I suspect it would be even bigger than it already is by now but I think a lot of TV folks are scared to program it because, without a clock, it can fill anywhere from 1-3 hours at random.

You guys act like volleyball players don't play beach/sand volleyball all the time. Its an NCAA sport! I am positive those girls play outdoors a lot.

Called men's and women's college volleyball on radio a lifetime ago. It was a challenge but made for several fantastic trips.

During the covid shutdown, Santa Cruz County high schools didn't have a girls indoor season. But when things loosened up, taking advantage of available facilities (including one just north of the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk), they had a beach volleyball season in the spring. And with covid mostly gone, they kept it going.

Of all of the hot take screamers in college football, Kanell's Baghdad Bob imitation might be the worst. Complete with that clueless sounding voice, he's the only one I saw who defended Pat Fitzgerald and some of the shenanigans. But Christ almighty is Deion insufferable. He really thinks his farts smell like Chanel at this point.

People from Mobile will be quick to tell you that they're the real birthplace of Mardi Gras. They get insanely territorial about it, in fact. Maybe the winner of this game can claim that title for the next year.

Helps that they’re right. Not disputing that Nola does it bigger and better though.

Also, this might be the weekend’s only other matchup of 10-win teams from last year aside from LSU-Florida State.

A whole damn off-season to plan the opening kickoff and UAB runs out two No. 13s at the same time.
