You might want to check what year the Oregon QB is.

Johnny Football is a freshman, but of course he could have beaten Alabama by age 10.

Oregon is a 24-point favorite. My instinct is to take Oregon, as usual. But looking at it again does give me a slight pause. Slight.

UCLA got the win in Pullman last night, but gave up most of a 30-point lead. Surprised the Cougs came back like that. Not bad for a bunch of zombies.
To me, Leach has been going too far this year with throwing his team under the bus. I can understand being disappointed and saying as such. But a corpse comment, a zombie convention comment and marching both lines in front of the media? That's too much. And banning players from using social media? Sure glad that helped get WAZZU on track for a bowl, Leach.
Having said that, the Marquees Wilson situation smells of BS. Wilson is an incredible receiver -- when he's not dropping the ball. But his lack of work ethic has been known in Pullman for a while; he just hadn't really been publicly called on it until Leach came in. He made a fool out of himself nationally with the drooping head syndrome in this year's opener against BYU and it hasn't really stopped since.
Wilson's talent is known. But between his pouty behavior, his drops and his team's record, surely his future stock has plummeted. To me, releasing the statement two hours before last night's game smells like retaliation on his part. And including the word abuse was clearly intentional, given what happened with the James case at TTech. Just put "Leach" and "abuse" together and many will jump to the conclusion "Leach is doing his usual dirty thing again."
I honestly don't know if what Wilson alleges is true or not. I'm just suspicious. But like my bro said tonight, it was nice not having mopey on the sidelines last night. Then again, Leach's apparent attempt to toughen his players by publicly berating them seems to have backfired badly.

OK so now we are perfectly into the SEC Vortex Of Domination that I've mentioned, where every team is great and thus every win is against a great team and every loss is also against a great team so it bolsters the resume of BOTH teams when they play.

We now have SEC teams occupying the 4 through 9 spots in the BCS rankings. Each has only one loss -- to each other! They can't be beaten outside the circle!

Meanwhile, scanning the group for victories outside the Vortex Of Domination, we see:

--Alabama has beaten Michigan, #21 in BCS. Yay!
--Georgia got after Buffalo. Not the Bills.
--Florida rocked Bowling Green's world and bravely withstood mighty Louisiana-Lafayette.
--LSU beat up on Washington, #25 in BCS.
--Texas A&M outlasted Louisiana Tech. That's not bad, actually.
--South Carolina got the better of fellow directional school East Carolina.

So the entire conference has not played an OOC team that is currently higher than the BCS top 20. But because they've ONLY LOST TO EACH OTHER!!!!!!!!! they are all awesome. Love this!

When Alabama beat Michigan, Michigan was a top 10 team. You cannot "punish" Alabama because Michigan fell apart after that game, or ended up not being as good as we thought. When that game was scheduled, it was universally regarded as a marquee match-up.

And by the end of the year, South Carolina will have played Clemson and Florida will have played Florida State, both currently in the Top 11 in the BCS. But I guess if the Tigers and/or 'Noles lose next week, those wins wouldn't count for the Gamecocks or Gators.

Let's just say, that for argument's sake, Alabama played Michigan, Oklahoma and USC in its non-conference schedule this year. All three of those teams were ranked in the preseason Top 10, but are not now. Would Alabama be punished because USC is 7-3? (and likely 6-4 if it had played Alabama instead of, say, Hawaii). Oklahoma's lost two games (and perhaps three if it had played Alabama). Would the less-than-stellar Sooners diminish Alabama's schedule?

Your argument is just plain stupid.

Anyway, relax. Assuming two teams among Oregon, Kansas State and Notre Dame don't step on their dicks against inferior teams, you'll have what you've always wanted ... a world where an SEC team is not national champion.

My argument is that there is a reflexive action to put six SEC teams in spots 4 through 9 while other teams like FSU, Clemson and Oklahoma -- which has two losses to the #s 1 and 3 teams in the country -- don't get a sniff. My argument is not just plain stupid. Just plain stupid is deciding these teams are automatically six of the top 10 teams in the country because they are in a certain league. If the results come in as you predict, then fine. But they haven't come in.

Texas A&M is a perfect case in point. That was a fairly middling Big 12 program that was supposed to be overwhelmed by the step up to the big boys. Those were the cackles too when Florida beat them. Yes, they have really had problems playing this new brand of football that is so out of everyone's reach.

and jesus christ, if michigan wasn't as good as we thought, it was overrated. it's not called "punishing" anybody. it's called strength of schedule. buck up.

I fail to see the point of "for the sake of argument" debates.

The fact is the SEC is out of the title picture (unless Oregon, K-State, and Notre Dame all fuck up and 'Bama wins out, and the BCS goes crazy, and my god I am not sticking around for the shit storm in this forum if that happens). It was bound to happen. Nothing lasts forever.

Fact is that the BCS still only takes two per conference, no matter how many from a conference are in the top 10.

Arguing who might have beaten whom had they been scheduled is as futile as my wish to go back in time and smash a ball-peen hammer into Johnny Football's throwing hand repeatedly.

All I know is it ain't my alma mater, so I don't care, and fuck all that SEC solidarity bullshit. Still loving that ol' Aubey is the shits after defying the laws of the universe and winning a title in '10.

Oh, and for good measure, fuck Boise State.

All Alabama or Georgia needs is two losses among Oregon, K-State or Notre Dame.
