Yeah, I didnt get that either. Only thing I could think of is that FSU was having such a hard time moving the ball most of the night that it was a mindset of "Their offense has been struggling all night so I'm sure 'ol Prison Pussy Foster can hold this lead no sweat."

Fun fact: With losses to Pitt and Cincinnati, VT would be in third in the Big East this year.

    Except when playing N.C. State.

Here's the (edit) *closest* scenario: Indiana beats Wiscy but loses to Penn State, putting the Hoosiers at 3-4 in conference play. Purdue wins its next two games — Iowa and Illinois — and gets to 2-5. Wisconsin loses out (reasonable since it faces Indiana, Ohio State and Penn State to end the year) and falls to 3-5 in conference play.

If Purdue, the home team, beats Indiana, then everyone is 3-5 in conference play. Head-to-head is meaningless since all three teams split with one another. Next tiebreaker, according to the conference's Website (http://www.bigten.org/sports/m-footbl/archive/081011aaa.html), is intradivision records. Everyone would be 2-3.

Next! "The records of the three teams will be compared against the next highest placed teams in their division in order of finish." That would be Illinois. Everyone beats Illinois.

Next! "The records of the three teams will be compared against all common conference opponents." Everyone went 1-2 against common division foes. There is no out-of-division-but-in-conference team all three faced.

Next! "The highest ranked team in the first Bowl Championship Series Poll following the completion of Big Ten regular season conference play shall be the representative in the Big Ten Championship Game, unless the two highest ranked tied teams are ranked within one spot of each other in the BCS poll. In this case, the head-to-head results of the top two ranked tied teams shall determine the representative in the Big Ten Championship."

    Poor Purdue.

Can Virginia Tech win a national championship? Maybe.
Will it be with Frank Beamer as head coach? Nope.

Yes, Virginia Tech's defense and LSU's defense are of similar caliber.

Matt Flynn's senior season: 2,407 yards, 21 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, 56.3% completed, 125.8 passer rating.
Zach Mettenberger's junior season (projected for 14 games): 2,670 yards, 12 touchdowns, 6 interceptions, 58.4% completed, 128.2 passer rating.

Matt Mauck was better than either, but it's interesting.

Jesus. CB for Houston tears a vein in practice. Doctor says the injury is fatal 95% of the time and has never been seen in a football context before. Usually associated with high-speed car crashes.

And a Tennessee State player collapsed and died at practice.

They were going for the touchdown. It was the usual read-option zone play for Thomas that has been a staple on third-and-short, but Thomas said someone missed a block and the gap closed quickly. They weren't just trying to sit on the ball there.
