If Arkansas, Alabama and OSU lose next week then it is wide open.

Boise can only get into a BCS bowl if it's taken as an at-large. It can't get taken as a top-12 automatic at-large because it's not a conference champion -- and it won't be because TCU has wrapped up the Mountain West. Right now, that spot goes to Houston.

As for the Pac-12, what a cluster, but I think it goes like this:

UCLA beats USC: No matter what, the Bruins go.
UCLA loses and a two-way tie with Arizona State (home vs. California): UCLA goes
UCLA loses and a two-way tie with Utah (home vs. Utah): Utah goes
UCLA loses and a three-way tie with Arizona State and Utah: Arizona State somehow gets in.

Edit: Arizona State wins in the event of a three-way tie.

When I said Houston was below Boise State, to be clear, I meant Houston would be below Boise State in the standings (this week, at least), not in the pecking order. Boise State could still be chosen as an at-large selection, though. Don't rule it out.

If it weren't for all the stupid conference tie-ins, the just-below-the-BCS-level bowls (Gator, Cotton, etc.) could have some great matchups this season. So could the BCS bowls, if it weren't for the same reason. Good luck selling those Houston-Rutgers tickets.

    What a disaster.

Someone will be playing for the National Championship and it didnt even win their own conference.

    No kidding.

    What a cluster.

    Looking like:

    Title game: LSU vs. Alabama
    Rose: Oregon vs. Wisconsin
    Fiesta: Oklahoma State vs. Stanford
Sugar: Houston vs. ??? Michigan, perhaps? Georgia, if it pulls off the upset.
    Orange: Virginia Tech vs. Louisville

You might be right, but wow, what a year it's turning out for Boise to have its chance at the title game.

What we need now is Arkansas to win at LSU then Georgia to win the SEC title game.

Boise isn't getting at-large bid. Wisconsin or Michigan.

Here in Virginia, I'm pretty sure the officials are still reviewing FSU's field-goal attempt. I expect Swofford to overturn the result tomorrow.

How annoyed is this Georgia fanboi gonna be if Georgia beats LSU and it opens the door for Boise to go to the title game? :D
