This seems like the appropriate week to point out that, much as we hate it, without the BCS none of us gives a shit what happened in Ames or Eugene or Waco, and the Iron Bowl and LSU-Arkansas likewise are small regional matters.

    BTExpress,

    Exactly.

Also, under the old system, several teams that didn't win their conference would have to be in contention going into the bowls after a regular season like this. Right?

I agree, it looks like LSU at this point will make the BCS championship game unless Arkansas beats it and Alabama wins the SEC title game. We're at the point where unless many voters do insane things with their ballots, the SEC West will likely have to representatives in the BCS championship game.

If you have a vote and Arkansas beats LSU, do you jump Bama to #1?

I guess you could say Oregon beat stanford, Stanford beat USC and USC beat Oregon, and the only decisive result in that round-robin was Oregon over Stanford.

So if this weekend put an end to the Heisman Trophy candidacies of Brandon Weeden (three interceptions vs. Iowa State), LaMichael James (20 carries, 78 yards and one lost fumble vs. Southern California) and Landry Jones (zero touchdowns and one interception vs. Baylor)...

Is Robert Griffin III back in the Heisman driver's seat? Is Trent Richardson sitting behind him in the race with 22 total touchdowns? Does Kellen Moore have a shot despite the loss? Can Montee Ball, with 1,466 yards and 25 touchdowns rushing, factor into the race if Wisconsin wins the Big Ten? ...

Also, with regards to the AP poll, are there voters who refuse to vote for Southern Cal?

Aren't they considered ineligible because of the probation?
