Jim Harbaugh the avenging angel for the sanctity of college football, just like everyone pictured all fall.

What do you think Bama did after losing to Texas? It's the hottest team in the country coming off a win over the two-time undefeated national champions. Granted, they didn't squeak by mighty Louisville last night, but Bama is every bit as deserving as FSU for the fourth spot.

Some folks I know in Austin might have a quibble or two with that.

What it comes down to is the committee dug down extra deep, perhaps with ESPN's help, to find the flimsiest of stupid excuses to avoid a playoff with no SEC team. I feel terrible for Jordan Travis, who apparently ruined his team's season by having the temerity to break his leg.

No one said it was Jordan Travis' fault, but obviously the lack of his presence is a difference-maker.

Boo Corrigan looked like a guy who opened his door this morning to find a videotape, emblazoned with an SEC logo, of his kids going to school and wife shopping, with a creepy modulated voiceover that says, "We know you'll do the right thing ... Roll Tide."

In that it gave the committee an excuse to shoehorn an SEC team in there, perhaps at ESPN's behest.
