    UAB with 69 scholarship players making the trip to Rice. Top two RB's, both starting safeties, and three outside LB's out.


    I knew that didn't look right. 43 players on scholly, with walk-ons and non-scholarship 69 total traveled. Thank God for the rule that lets players play four games without burning a redshirt. Clark plays most of the backups under this, so the depth across the board has at least some playing experience.

    Dates back to when both teams used the LA Coliseum as their home. Bruins bolted for the Rose Bowl after the Raiders moved from Oakland to LA in the 1980s.

    It was 2008. USC was going to lose one timeout per half based on rules at the time. Then NCAA said it would just be one lost timeout. Neuheisel burned one to make it even. In the offseason, NCAA changed the rule and that awesome tradition has continued.

    Other schools do it. Arizona and Arizona State were both in dark jerseys on Friday.

    Now, they need to start getting USC-UCLA back to 12:30 p.m. where it belongs, after Michigan-Ohio State at 9 a.m.

    I don't think that's really an issue this season.

    NCAA votes to give extra year to D-I fall athletes

    As for headlines, in Baton Rouge anyway . . .

    This is gonna be interesting to follow. It’s a stretch to assume that every school is going to honor every request for an extra year. Most schools couldn’t afford to increase their financial aid budget by 15-20% even before the Trumpandemic.
