Meanwhile in Madison … props to the Cougs. After allowing that deflating TD just before half, Washington State uses two third quarter scoring drives to take a 17-14 lead.

Air Force in command over Colorado at the Springs.

Still cannot get used to seeing cadets in camouflage there. Too late to bring back the old green fatigues for those who don't opt for the dress blues?

Dennis Dodd noted App State plays Marshall in November. What a game that will be.

Actually, it was a good game. Devils got out to a big lead and held on, complete with a crunching hit near the goal line which caused a fumble that Duke recovered to seal the win. Duke, which was projected to be the worst Power Five program this season, is 2-0. The cool thing about zero expectations is there's nowhere to go but up.

Wake, to the surprise of no one, handled Vanderbilt. Something about the Power Five private institutions going at it ... except for poor Stanford. Good luck with USC.

Nasty stretch for Appalachian State late in the season. Travel to Conway to face Coastal Carolina, then to Huntington to play Marshall.

Yeah that was monumentally stupid. Usually they went until the end of the game to Coog it. Checked that box at halftime today.
