    The Bush push was completely legal. It's only assisting the runner of you pull, not push. (Or at least that's how the "aiding" rule was explained on TV recently, so who knows if that's the correct intrepetation or not).

    The Fox officiating analyst, Mike Pereira (the former NFL VP of officiating) had a copy of the rules in his hand and quoted Rule 9, Section 3, Article 2 as saying "a teammate of the runner cannot grasp him, pull him, push him, lift him or charge into him to assist him in forward progress."

    Maybe the rule was worded differently at the time?
