So now that BYU has lost, I guess Notre Dame becomes the non-AQ conference darling?

Wait. Are you saying you weren't impressed by edging Western Michigan? Hmm... What about needing 3 OTs to beat UNLV. That doesn't do anything for you? No? God. How picky are you?

OK that's it. I am predicting a Minnesota Rose Bowl appearance right now.

Seriously though ... I'm sure they will get blown to smithereens at least twice, but it's the kind of year that two losses could take the damn thing.

If not now, when? (OK, maybe never.)

We all know they have trouble counting in Florida.

I think I am going to skip the money line part for now. I do like to follow the over/under lines, though.

I checked out the Vegas lines for today. Houston ranges from -6.56 to 8. But most had the game at 7. So the spread would be written as Houston (-7) at Jacksonville, right?

OK, so that I fully understand, hypothetically, let's say today's game is being played in Houston. The same spread would be written as Jacksonville (+7) at Houston or would it be Jacksonville at Houston (-7)?

R_S, I am hoping you bet on that UCLA/Houston game :)

It honestly doesn't matter at that point. It's up to a given place's decision. I prefer to associate the line with the favorite (so, Jacksonville at Houston (-7)).

I'd be all up on Jacksonville in that one, btw. Liesl, this would be a good time to go money line on the Texans. They can win by six and you can pay for your postgame drinks.

I still remember three years ago when I considered "buying" the points on Mizzou and paying a bit more on the money line for the same payout. But I decided to just lay the 2 1/2 points instead and save some money. Final score Mizzou 41-39, as Pinkel killed the clock from the 2 and kicked a last-second field goal. I also remember a safety somehow jacking the score and point-spread implications out of my favor.

In all seriousness, Ohio hasn't lost a game yet and, at least on paper, have played their two toughest games already - Penn State & Marshall.

And even though Florida State hasn't exactly started its real schedule yet, it's outscored opponents 176-3. In under three games.
