If jumbo wine joyriding didn't get Gary Pinkel fired, a loss at home to Arkansas State might.

    That doesn't help.

Why in the world would Wazzu agree to play Stanford at Seattle? If money's the answer, couldn't they do much more economically with a campus football weekend?

I don't know the answer for sure, but there are a lot more seats in Seattle and I would guess the powers that be think it is important to keep a strong presence in the city.

Biblical rain in Eugene right now. Six fumbles in the first 6 minutes - 3 each - all recovered by Oregon.

20-0 Ducks about 7 minutes in.

And, less than 9 minutes into the game, Cal just lost their 4th fumble.

About 80 percent of the Wazzu alums in-state live in the Puget Sound area. They've done this for years and always draw far more than they would in Pullman.

Maybe not tonight, because the weather really sux in the PNW this weekend and Stanford's 25 traveling fans could fit in an airport shuttle bus. This game would draw 25K in Pullman.

They used to just do non-conference games there. Pullman is so remote that fans of visiting teams often don't make that trip. So I suspect the crowd is double, maybe triple, in Seattle.

I guess I've pretty much accepted that every conference is going to have its bottom-feeders at any given time. It's a mathematical necessity. Thus the Kentuckys, Colorados, Wazzus, Purdues, Kansas and Virginias of the world. Good thing most of them are good or fair in basketball.
