Apparently he was pulled off the team bus after landing at LAX and fired in the parking lot. Next-best thing to Jack Crowe being fired on the way to the post-game press conference after Arkansas lost to The Citadel in 1992.

In the really late show, Southern Miss extends the nation's longest losing streak to 16 with a big fat turd on the blue turf. Worst loss for Southern in 38 years. There might be 10,000 in the stands Saturday when FIU comes to Hattiesburg to determine which team is the worst in the country.

Kiffin is glad he was fired early enough that he can still join the Seahawks and get his Super Bowl ring. I'm sure Daddy is calling Pete right now about it.

Not if Ohio State, Clemson and Oregon stay unbeaten.

I knew Kiffin was certainly toast at the end of the season, but this is a surprise. That game was awful, USC looked as if it quit. Haden is remaking that entire athletic department.

If I'm an opposing Pac-12 coach, this is not a good development. When USC has a quality coach (McKay, Robinson I, Carroll), USC dominates.

Given Kiffin's "Last Plane out of Saigon" departure from Rocky Top, I can't shed too many tears from him being left on the LAX tarmac on an early Sunday morning.
I do wonder where he'll end up. I'm sure he can coach and recruit, I just can't think of a coach secure enough in his own position to want him on staff. It's not like QBs he's tutored have had great success in the NFL.

Dan, what makes you sure he can coach and recruit? Beginning with his co-coordinator spot at USC -- when the fan base did not like him and Carroll was constantly defending and making excuses for him -- there has never been evidence that he had much going as a coach. And I think his recruiting has amounted to bringing Orgeron with him.

He is football's answer to the trust-fund brat.

I know he can recruit because he's been able to sell Al Davis, Tennessee and USC on his abilities as a coach and they bought it, despite his track record, figure 18-year-old kids are even easier to con. And in college fb, coaching IS recruiting. The 'trust-fund' thing is kind of unfair. He's never worked for his dad, he's always worked on the other side of the ball unlike Brian Schottenheimer or Kyle Shanahan. That said, I'm not a fan and figure if he looked like Mangino and didn't have the connections, he wouldn't have had those three HC jobs in the first place.

So who is the interim head coach? Orgeron? ohh please let it be Coach Yaw Yaw. It can't be the D-coordinator; he looks even more lost than Lane did.

The trust fund thing is fair -- he got jobs because Pete felt an obligation to Monte, and a large reason both Tennessee and USC hired Lane was that he was bringing Monte's vaunted defense with him. Never done anything out of his dad's shadow.

Wasn't aware of Carroll's relationship with Monte. I'll take back what I said. And again, you want to blame the NCAA sanctions - Kiffin was there when that crap was going on.

Terps ranked #25 in AP poll, Notre Dame not ranked. And Jesus weeps
