And I fear we may waste him, too.

    Heading to Week 6 ...

Teams that have already hit their season over win total:
    Arizona 3 (3-2 now)
    Duke 3 (4-1)
    Vanderbilt 2.5 (3-2)
    Kansas 2.5 (5-0)
    Syracuse 5 (5-0)

Teams with a very excellent shot of eclipsing their win total:
Liberty 6.5 (4-1 now with games against Gardner-Webb, UMass, UConn and New Mexico State left)
    New Mexico 2.5 (2-3)
    Ole Miss 7.5 (5-0)
    Temple 2.5 (2-3)
    Tulane 6 (4-1)
    ULM 2.5 (2-3)
    Washington State 5.5 (4-1)

Teams in serious danger of missing their over:
    Army 8 (1-3)
    Boise State 9 (3-2)
    Eastern Michigan 7.5 (1-4)
    Fresno State 8.5 (1-3)
    Houston 9 (2-3)
    Louisiana 8.5 (2-3)
    Miami 8.5 (2-2)
    Oklahoma 9.5 (3-2)
    Texas A&M 8.5 (3-2)
    UAB 8.5 (2-2)
    Wisconsin 8.5 (2-3)

    Remain calm. All is well.

This is becoming less a college football season, and more a special season of Survivor where each week another coach is voted off the island.

How many wins did they predict for Illinois? I’m guessing they might go over their prediction.

Illinois was a really feisty 5-7 team last season. They got road wins at Penn State and Minnesota, and played Iowa really tough. They were the perfect gambling team — bad enough that they kept getting double-digit point spreads in their favor, but good enough that you knew they would cover them. And I think they went through a couple of quarterbacks because of injury.
Not totally surprising they've been able to turn a corner.

Meant to put Illinois in that second section. I think their total was 5.

If the thread title is a question: No, I did not. I read the book, though!

Illinois is already a very tough opponent to face. Bielema is not a guy I would want to spend any time with as he seems like a jerk and a buffoon but the guy can coach. Had he been content to stay at UW for 25 years instead of making at best a lateral move to Arkansas he would have gotten a statue outside Camp Randall.

I'd say that @BitterYoungMatador2 and I should make some sort of bet on Hokies-Pitt on Saturday, but I'm actually going to visit a buddy, play golf and enjoy a night drinking bourbon by the firepit rather than subject myself to watching the shit I've watched the last two weeks. Life is too short to waste on watching terrible football. Not giving up on my alma mater by any means, but if there's a year where you don't revolve your entire Saturday around a crap product, this is it.
