Exactly. His one loss, he had 500 total yards against one of the best defenses in the country. If anything, that performance verified that he hadn't lost a step while going through all the offseason drama.
Texas A&M's one loss was not because of him, and I suspect any others they have this season won't be because he turns in a turdburger of a performance. If he loses out on the Heisman, it'll be because someone else (Boyd or Winston, perhaps) were also very, very good and don't have the baggage.

Watch Oregon's Marcus Mariota and compare their numbers, then tell me if Manziel is the best player "and it isn't close."

I did. I watched all of Oregon and Washington on Saturday. And I try to watch as much PAC-12 football as my southern state allows.

Oregon is tricky because one gets the sense that the offensive success is a mix of the system and the Ducks just having better athletes. A roster loaded with guys who could break off 90 yards and if you took one player out of the mix, you got another guy on the sideline who could play just as well.

With Manziel you don't get that impression. If he's not out there, then A&M doesn't have much chance.

Plus, Manziel just has "it." That hard to define but you know it when you see it quality. It also makes him fun as hell to watch play. Oregon is also fun to watch but it feels like interchangeable parts.

It all hinges on Mariota. Those other pieces have been coming and going with injuries but they keep rolling because of him. He's thrown 17 touchdowns and no interceptions. His rushing stats are much better than Manziel's. He's also doing it with far less time on the field -- the Washington game was the first time this season Mariota has played in the 4th quarter.

It also all hinged on Dennis Dixon and Jeremiah Masoli Darron Thomas and ...

I know Marcus Mariota is better than them, but there is a systemic factor that needs to be accounted for.

Have you seen Mariota play? He's on a whole different plane. Dude is just unreal, his accuracy is amazing, he's elusive, he's fast. He's the real deal and I hate the Ducks more than any other team in college ball.

    Douchebagginess is now "it"?

No wonder Brett Favre had "it" all those years.

If I need one play to win a game and I have to pick between Mariota and Manziel, I'm going Mariota cause odds are he won't do something really fucking dumb like celebrate too much and get a huge gain taken away.

According to that logic, no offensive player from Oregon -- or any player from any team that has a "system" in place that has been consistently productive -- should ever be considered for the Heisman.

Name one instance in which Johnny Manziel showboated and had a huge gain taken away.

Dixon would have won the Heisman in 06 had he not gotten hurt, he was awesome.

And Mariota is way, way better than all those mentioned above. He might actually be a good pro.

I don't know if he has, but the douchebaggery he plays with means the chance is there.

I have seen Mariota play four times and not once has he done anything even close to what Johnny Football has done.
