An Alabama-level or an Oregon-level team. These are different things.

He'll be gone . . . but he's PRECISELY the coach that dump deserves.

By comparison, 2000 was probably the worst season in recent Alabama football history. Coming off an SEC championship, ranked No. 3 in the country and finished 3-8.

And Alabama still beat Vandy 28-10 and Ole Miss 45-7 that year.

Chizik's gone, no doubt about it.

Can Alabama A&M beat Auburn? I don't follow the FCS at all, but A&M is 6-1.

Also, how great is this Alabama receiving corps? I always will love Marquis Maze and Darius Hanks and Brad Smelley for playing well beyond their skill sets. They took on a huge load and made AJ McCarron comfortable. But Amari Cooper is on the Julio Jones level, and the others have so much talent. I expected more out of DeAndrew White, but it's not like he's been bad as much as overshadowed.

This year makes me wish the Pac-10 was still around. We could have 11-0 Oregon vs. 11-0 Oregon State for one spot in the BCS title game and 12-0 Alabama vs. 12-0 Florida in the SEC title game for the other BCS bid on the same day.

Saw the score this morning. Awesome.
Elsewhere in the Pac-12, I am still not sold on the Beavers. Held on to beat Wisconsin, looked flat against WAZZU and only scored when Utah made big mistakes last night. Glad for their hot start, but not convinced it will keep up.

Alabama A&M isn't really an FCS school, it's a SWAC school. The SWAC exists in its own universe. By comparison, Alcorn State beat Alabama A&M a couple of weeks ago. Alcorn was skunked earlier this season by a legitimate FCS contender, James Madison, 42-3.
If Auburn loses to Alabama A&M, they won't even let Gene Chizik clear out his office. They'll just mail his stuff to him.

If you had Robb Akey in your college coaching Dead Pool, be sure to collect your winnings.

I thought y'all were joking about Auburn playing Alabama A&M.

I will give Al Golden this: he's got that team a lot more prepared each week than Randy Shannon every did. UM took the hurt to FSU early but in the end didn't have enough talent. Too bad they're going on probation soon. Young team headed in the right direction, at least on the field.
