November too. And late October. Before that, it's too hot and humid.

    Agree 100 percent, micro.

And I'm not worried about Akey -- who seems like a solid, no b.s. guy from my limited interactions with him. He'll land on his feet somewhere.

His only "mistake" was being a true believer in the future of Idaho's football program. Could have left after the successful 2009 season, but really believed the team had turned a corner. A couple razor-thin losses in 2010 left the Vandals one win shy of bowl eligibility, and that hurt whatever "momentum" the program had.

I agree about Akey. From my interactions with him while an assistant at WAZZU, I was impressed with him. After the 2009 seasons, I know plenty of Coug fans were wanting to swap Paul Wulff for Akey.
Speaking of Cougs, interesting to see Jason Gesser now coaching the Vandals. Glad he's getting a chance, but not expecting good things for him in that situation.

I suspect, if Chucky turns down the Vols, Al Golden will be 1C to Kirby Smart's 1B.

Chucky? Do you mean Gruden? Is that something they're talking about?

Will the Vols have any interest in Charlie Strong?

Jon Gruden is not walking through that door.

Yeah, he's their pipe dream. He's a former Tennessee GA and his wife was a cheerleader there.

But if/when he wants to return to coaching, he could have any one of 10 NFL jobs. He's got no reason to pull a Pete Carroll.

I love the SWAC. Quite possibly the most entertaining conference in America. For all the wrong reasons, true. But there's never a dull moment in the SWAC, and their halftimes rock.

And what to do with 12-0 K-State, which might've handed Oklahoma its only loss -- and in Norman, no less?

As much as I love Bill Snyder, the Wildcats probably will stumble. The Big 12 is deep, and they aren't that good.

As much as I'd like to get excited about both Florida-Georgia and Notre Dame-Oklahoma this week, theoretically seven consecutive hours of tremendous Saturday viewing, I have a feeling that both are going to be butt thumpings of the highest order.
