Ore is ineffective because that line is a mess. He's still a pretty good back.

So just how close are we to a BC/Ohio State national championship now? I think the Eagles have already beaten their toughest competition and if the Buckeyes get by this week, only Michigan can stop them. Tressel owns Carr in that one.

Nick Saban and LSU lost to Arkansas in 2002 on a last-minute Arkansas touchdown drive on which Saban called for the prevent defense. Interestingly, LSU did not lose because it ran the prevent -- it lost because it didn't run the prevent defense.

Corey Webster bit on the short receiver's route, exposing the deep ball. Richard Smith got behind the secondary and caught a long pass, setting up the game-winning TD pass.

If LSU had actually executed the prevent, it probably would have won.

That's a tough act to follow, but to get this thread back on Page 1 for a college football Saturday, allow me to present:

Arkansas laying 41 to Florida International. Do they humiliate the (insert FIU mascot) or go safe and play the regulars for a half then the scrubs thereafter, settling for a 38-0 win?

For the noon parlay partay I took:

    Kentucky minus-14 v. Miss. State
    Illionis minus-14 v. Ball State
under 56.5 between West Virginny and Rutgers (it's raining in Piscataway)

He's both right and wrong. Yes, LSU's got a tough path to the BCS, but he also said USC would probably be there because its schedule was filled with teams like Stanford, and we saw how that game turned out. But USC will have had to win at Nebraska, at Oregon, at Cal and at Arizona State. Miles made it seem like USC played 12 games against Stanford or Minnesota, which simply isn't true.

Bottom line, I still see that line as Miles building in an excuse if LSU didn't make the BCS game, an excuse he still might use if the Tigers miss out while someone like Ohio State, Boston College, Arizona State or KU make it there.

Took a long review, though, after White fumbled the ball at the 1 and recovered in the end zone.

  12. Strong points, Oz, but I'd say he was laying the foundation for a complaint more than for an excuse. And again, he was speaking to boosters at a private function, not knowing he was being recorded. If we had tape of all coaches in those situations, we'd get something very different than what usually runs in the paper.
