Let's not get carried away, shot. Minnesota ain't beating anyone.

And I agree with Doc -- the Big East has certainly been a tough conference this year.

If Iowa could borrow someone's offense for a Bowl Game, they could do some damage.

Pretty damn good defense. Not so much with the offense.

Why is it that when Hammer Pants or deskslave defend their arguments, they are looser fanboys? Are they supposed to just roll over and say "Ok Zeke/shot, you are right." God forbid they have an opinion and try to back it up. They aren't just screaming "THE SEC RULES!!!!" They are making arguments and doing their best to back them up.

Call me an SEC homer if you like, but I would say the same for anyone defending an argument about any conference.

And saying "I hope you don't college football" is just stupid. This is an anonymous message board, not USA Today. It is not hard to have an opinion here and stay objective in the field. In fact, ALL OF US do it.

FWIW, this is becoming a stupid argument because neither side is making ground with the other. Agree to disagree.

One more point and then I'm done.

I would also argue that the SEC, Big 12 and, yes, the ACC should receive significant credit in this conversation for the championship games. Teams in the other three don't have to deal with that, and that's a significant advantage, IMO. The games quite often are rematches, and are almost always between teams in the top 25. What would have happened if Ohio State had been forced to play, say, Michigan again last year, or even had to play an extra game against Iowa or Wisconsin? Maybe they would have won. Who knows.

    Doc,

I won't argue with that. At the same time, there's seven SEC teams there that I'd put up against pretty much anybody. And there's four Big East teams there you could say the same about.

I won't mention Connecticut, which has only played three teams with a pulse ... and gone 2-1 in those games (one of which was won via immaculate fair catch signal).

Those conferences made a choice to have their best teams play a extra game. They didn't have to expand to 12 teams. Nobody forced them too. Nothing is more annoying than the little boys bitching about a concious decision made their all-powerful conference.

In his defense, though, there ARE fewer Big East teams. 4 out of 8 and 7 out of 12 are pretty much even -- provided you believe those numbers, of course. ;)

    And, FWIW ...

Alabama's "look who they've played schedule": Western Carolina, Vandy, Arkansas, Georgia, Florida State, Houston, Ole Miss, Tennessee, LSU, Mississippi State, Louisiana-Monroe, Auburn

Connecticut's "look who they've played schedule": Duke, Maine, Temple, Pittsburgh, Akron, Virginia, Louisville, South Florida, Rutgers, Cincinnati, Syracuse, West Virginia.

    Teams in the AP Top 25: Alabama, 4 (10, 24, 3, 19); UConn, 2 (7 and 20)

    You're right, this is fun.

Who said anything about bitching? I love championship games. I wish the other three would do it. All I'm saying is that teams in those conferences that want to win a national title have to go through an extra stage, and that that increases the degree of difficulty for emerging from one of those conferences. Sorry if that sounds like bitching -- it wasn't supposed to.
