I was wondering if anyone else thought Tubby might have been a fit at New Mexico or Utah. I'd say the Utes make a hire before Wyoming, who will go with an assistant from the mid-major ranks or a head from the juco ranks.

Wyoming just grabbed former Portland State head coach Heath Schroyer. He left PSU for an assistant's job at Fresno State and it sure as hell looks like a pretty good move for him now. I think Wyoming could have done better, like Ken Bone, the guy who replaced Schroyer at Portland State. That's a guy who will eventually be damn good.

Schroyer worked for Wyoming's AD when they were both at Portland State.

Schroyer was an assistant on the 2001-2002 Wyoming team, the one that knocked off Gonzaga in the first round. Toward the end of that season, Schroyer was recruiting a kid from whom they were awaiting a transcript. Other coaches asked where the transcript was and Schroyer said he didn't know.

In fact, he had the transcript but at the time he was recruiting, he was a finalist for the Portland State gig. When he got the gig, lo and behold, the transcript shows up in his Portland offices and the kid in question went to PSU. Along with the ethics of such things, it points out how sad it is when a program like Wyoming is going up against Big Sky schools for recruits — and losing them.

Oh yeah, one week before Schroyer took the assistant job with Fresno State and Steve Cleveland, he told the Wyoming media (UW had an assistant opening as well) he wasn't leaving Portland. Then again, in the words of Joe Posnanski, that just makes him another college basketball coach.

Which kid was that, the one who started at BYU? 6-10 kid. I can't remember his name ... Seth Scott or something? He was crazy, and by crazy I mean certifiably insane. OK basketball player, but not worth the baggage.

Or if Gonzo is really in trouble, Ruland takes a year off and goes to the Hall.

I can't believe Gonzo is already in trouble. He's such a low maintenence guy.

Little birdie told me Wyoming's got the eyes of the NCAA taking a long look at McClain's recruiting practices.

Looks like I might not have to do back-to-back coaching search crap.

Seth Scott ... there's a nut from the past. If Seth Scott was half as good as he thought he was Stew Scott would be trying to give him "the pound."

See Page 3. Even a stopped clock is correct twice a day.

Just stay away from pool tables on your first day on the job, Heath.

Yes, Idaho, you are correct. Furthermore, UW might be losing scholarships because of the APR; Pokes weren't getting it done in the classroom, apparently.

You ever heard of an extension of this length?

IOWA STATE-Agreed to terms with Bill Fennelly, women's basketball coach, on 12-year contract extension, through 2019.
